Store bought health bars are expensive, full of sugar, small and skimpy on the flavor - so we created a bar based on a family recipe that is none of the bad things above, and just filled with everything you love!
We've even got some cute ideas below to make up the mix & present it as a gift for Mothers Day, Valentines Day & Christmas.
You'll need:
tin condensed milk
625 g Mixed Seeds & Nuts & fruit
190g Porridge Oats.
Just mix it all together, and push into a baking sheet lined tin. Cook in a low oven at 130 degrees celcius for 30-40mins until golden on top.
Try some or all of this mix with your oats for a great mix of sweet, savory, squidy and crunchy textures:
All wholesome high energy yummy ingredients :o) |
cranberries, sultanas, pumpkin seeds, ground walnuts (whiz in a food processor until small or crumbly in size), linseed, sunflower seeds, ground cashews, chopped almonds, dried raspberries, handful of museli, chopped/ ground peanuts.
Note: If you are making this for little ones, you could grind up some of the larger nuts first
Leave to cool and if you haven't already shaped them, cut into rectangular bars or while still warm
Craftea Tip!!: Once kept in an airtight jar, the nut, fruit and oat mix will keep for a couple of weeks. Add the can of condensed milk and bottle it up all nicely to give to a loved one on Valentines Day or Mothers Day as a fantastic edible hand made gift. The recipient can then make it up and bake it whenever they feel they need a boost!!
