Kids Edible Yogurt Paint!!

This colourful, fun to make & use edible craft will have toddlers & children busy for hours! Using just Glenisk Yogurt, royal icing sugar & food colouring they can mix up a batch in minutes then finger paint away on white plates or make their masterpieces on plain rice cakes. It's a healthy, creative activity - full of sensory fun & tasty yogurty goodness!

To make 6 small pots of Edible Yoghurt Paint you'll need:

1/2 cup or 120ml Glenisk Natural Yogurt (or Greek Yogurt)
Drops of your favourite food colourings
Optional: royal icing sugar
Plain rice cakes  (this batch will cover about 20 rice cakes or more!)
Large mixing bowl and small bowls
Mixing spoons
Clean paintbrushes (sterilise before use even if brand new)

* Using royal icing sugar is optional and varies the end result depending if it is used or not, and how much is actually used in the recipe.
  • Toddler paint - If you want to keep the kids away from sugar, you can still totally make the edible yogurt paint without it - it will just be runnier and won't set. This is a handy option for young toddlers who just want to get their fingers into the edible paint and learn to play with the texture and eat the yogurt from their fingers or the plate they paint on!
  • Runny Paint - Depending on the consistency of the edible yoghurt paint you wish to make you can use - between 2 cups / 8oz royal icing sugar for runny paint
  • Paint that Sets - If you want the edible yogurt paint to set -  double up and use 4 cups or 16oz royal icing sugar with 120ml Glenisk Yogurt.

Here's how to make your batch of Edible Paint...
  1. Pour Glenisk Yoghurt into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the Royal Icing Sugar to the Glenisk Yogurt (if you are using icing sugar).
  3. Divide up the Glenisk Yogurt mix into bowls depending on how many colours of edible paint you wish to make.
  4. In each small bowl, mix the Glenisk Yogurt with the chosen food colouring. Start with small drops of food coloring and add more if you want the colours to be darker.
  5. Store the edible yogurt paints in the fridge in a sealed container for only the recommended time like you would any fresh yogurt. Don't forget to clean the paintbrushes thoroughly after each use too!
