Act Out Incy Wincy Spider with this Toilet Paper Tube Craft!

Make lyrics come to life on a blustery Autumn day indoors by getting CrafTea with some toilet paper tubes and paints, then acting out the classic Incy Wincy Spider Nursery Rhyme with your child.

You'll need:
  • 1 kitchen roll and 2 toilet rolls
  • scissors
  • thread
  • sellotape
  • markers/ paints and paint brush

Here's how we did it! ................

Cut 2 small toilet roll tubes in half. Each piece is used for a different part of this rhyme.

Cut 8 slits half way up one tube and fan them out slightly to make Incy Wincy spider legs, then paint black with some eyes.

On another piece, squeeze the sides together and cut out a cloud shape on the top and bottom and paint this white.  Using an unraveled toilet roll piece as card, cut out some large raindrops and paint them blue. Cut some 2 inch lengths of thread & tape/glue to the raindrops. Hang from the inside of the cloud piece to make a raincloud.

On another half of roll, cut out lots of thin slits half way up the tube and fan them out to make rays of sun and paint yellow.

Use a long kitchen roll tube for the drainpipe scene and paint a thin long pipe and house wall behind it, blue sky and grass. At the top of the tube, on  the left side of the drainpipe cut two 1inch slits to hang the cloud from, and on the other side of the tube, on the right side of the drainpipe cut one slit for the sun to hang from.

Assemble and you can start acting out Incy Wincy Spider’s adventures up the spout!

"The incey wincey spider
Climbed up the spout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the incey wincey spider
Climbed up again"
