DIY Kids Pirate Cannon Craft

Add a bit of 'Arrrr' to a kid's artillery with our a simple DIY Pirate Cannon which can shoot small soft sweets, cotton or small styrofoam balls.  Make 2+ cannons, pop on some protective eye goggles, load up on artillery supplies, mark a chalk line outdoors & let the battle begin!!

All you need are: 

• Small Plastic Drink Bottle 
• Balloon
• Strong Tape
• Scissors 
• Toilet Roll Tube
• Tin Foil 

1. Remove the lid from the bottle. Ask an adult to carefully cut the plastic bottle to create the cone part of the cannon. Its optional to paint your cone if you like! A couple of layers of non toxic paint will do the job nicely. Luckily the Pepsi Max Bottle I used had a black plastic layer which looked great. 

2. Place the balloon on the bottle top and secure with strong tape. You should be able to pull it back and release without it coming off. 

3. Fill 'the cannon chamber' (inside the bottle) with soft small soft sweets, cotton balls wrapped in tin foil or small styrofoam balls, pull back the balloon, aim and fire!

4. If you like you can cover a toilet paper tube in tin foil and convert your hand held cannon into a stand alone pirate cannon! Simply table your bottle part onto the covered toilet paper tube.

Important Safety note: If making this cannon please make users aware that when using the cannon never aim at faces, young children, eyes or breakable objects as the "cannon balls" however soft, could cause injury or damage. Protective goggles must be worn when shooting the cannon, playing near someone who is using the cannon or with someone shooting the cannon. This craft is not suitable for young children or toddlers.
