With Valentines Day approaching, this gorgeous handmade Loveheart saltdough banner and personalised necklaces would make a gorgeous gift for a friend or an inexpensive present for the kids to make for a relative.
Once you get the hang of salt dough there are endless things you can make with it. It’s no harm to invest in some cookie cutters as these go hand in hand with salt dough and an easy craft on any rainy day.
What you need:
Salt
Water
Flour
Rolling Pin
Heary Shaped Cookie Cutters
Paint
Paintbrush
Coloured Twine
Instructions:
1)
Using
a cup measure out one cup water, one cup flour and half cup salt.
2)
This
will make enough salt dough for about 5 hearts. So double or triple accordingly.
I made two batches and it was more than enough for the banner and all the
necklaces
3)
Mix
the flour and salt ingredients together and slowly add the water until you get
a nice dough mixture.
4)
Using
your rolling pin roll out your dough.
5)
Cut
out the heart shapes with the cookie cutters.
6)
You
can make the letters with all the excess dough.
7)
Once
you are happy with your design, place on a baking tray.
8)
I
used a skewer to make little holes the hearts that I will use to string the
twine through later.
9)
Cook
in the oven for 1 hour at 50 deg.
10)
You
can also leave to dry out naturally over a few days in a warm dry place but I
prefer using the oven.
11)
Once
completely dry your decoration will be rock hard.
12) Paint in the colour of your choice and leave to dry.
13) String your twine through your decorations and hang.
*Craftea Tip-Before the paint dries sprinkle
some glitter on your decorations to make them even more gorgeous.
